WordTile is a tile game played with stacks of letters. The object is to spell as many words as you can (the longer word the better!) using the letters on the board. Use all the letters on the board for the highest scores! WordTile has a built-in dictionary with over 175,000 words in it, and has the capacity for adding new words.
Requirements
WordTile requires a PowerMac or 68k Mac (68040 recommended) with 4 megs of free RAM, System 7.0 or later.
Shareware Info
WordTile is shareware, if you play it for more than 30 minutes, and still like it, please register it. Registration is $15, and by registering, you will receive a disk containing 4 extra tile sets and 35 new board layouts, giving you 6 tile sets & 40 board layouts to play with WordTile.

Instructions
The object of WordTile is to earn as many points as possible by spelling out words with the tiles. There is a bonus for using all the tiles on the board. Words must be at least three letters and the longer the word, the more the points.
Scoring is as follows:
3 or 4 letters = 1 point
5 letters = 2 points
6 letters = 3 points
7 letters = 5 points
8 letters = 7 points
9 letters = 10 points
10 letters = 13 points
11 letters = 17 points
12+ letters = 20 points
To spell a word, begin by clicking on the tile with the first letter of the word. Then click on the next letters in order, until the word you want appears in the space at the bottom of the board. You can only select letter tiles that are visible (not covered by another tile) and not "blocked". A tile is blocked if there are other tiles touching it on both its left and right sides. When you move your cursor over a tile, it will have a green border if it is free, or a red border if it is blocked. If you attempt to pick a tile that is blocked, you will hear an error sound.
When you finish spelling a word with non-blocked tiles click the "Try Word" button or press enter or return. If the word is valid (found in WordTile's dictionary), you will get your points and the tiles will be removed from the board. Work to beat your best. Remove all the tiles for a bonus!
To de-select all tiles (in case you want to look for some other word), click anywhere on the board where there are no tiles. To de-select tiles one at a time, use the delete key.
If you find a word that WordTile doesn't think is valid, and you sure its a real word (some verb forms and plurals aren't in the built-in dictionary), you can add it to the WordTile custom dictionary. After entering a word that couldn't be found, simply choose "Add Word to Custom Dictionary" from the options menu. You can add as many words as you need, and remove any words from the dictionary you have added. To see what words are in the custom dictionary, choose "View Custom Dictionary" from the Options menu.
At the start of a new game, the tiles are laid out in a pattern defined by the current board layout. There are several different board layouts in the "Board Layouts" folder, and you can change layouts by choosing "Open Board Layout" from the File menu. Changing the layout restarts the game. Some layouts are easier than others.
You can also select different tile sets, the fonts for letters shown on each tile. Choose "Open Tile Set" from the File menu and then open any tile set file in the "Tile Sets" folder.
WordTile Menus
File Menu
New Game: Start a new game, placing 100 letter tiles on the board randomly.
Open Board Layout: Open a different layout for the tiles on the board. This restarts the game with 100 tiles on the board.
Open Tile Set: Opens a different tile set font to display on each tile.
Edit Menu
Undo: Replaces the letters for the last word you removed. You can undo repeatedly to put tiles back all the way to the initial layout.
Redo: Removes the the letters of the last word you have put back with Undo.
Options Menu
Sound: Toggle sound effects on/off.
View High Scores: Shows a table of best scores for both this board layout and the best scores for all layouts in WordTile.
Add Word To Custom Dictionary: Add the currently selected word (or the last word you tried to remove from the board) to the custom dictionary. Some verb forms and plurals aren't in the built-in dictionary, so you can add new words if you know they are correctly spelled.
View Custom Dictionary: This allows you to view the words that have been added to the custom dictionary, and remove any words you don't want. You can select multiple words in the list by holding down the shift and command keys.
Kagi Registration
Kagi Software collects registration payments for us for a small processing fee, allowing you to register with a credit card via email, fax, or normal mail. Kagi can also handle international registrations in native currency in many cases. To register via Kagi, run the accompanying "Register" application and follow the instructions below:
1. Double click the Register application.
2. Enter your name & email address.
3. Enter your postal address (Important! We need this to send you your disk!)
4. Enter the number of copies you want to buy in the box next to WordTile (single user).
5. Select your payment method via the popup menu and enter appropriate information.
(credit card number, expiration date, etc.)
After you have entered all your information, you can do any of the following:
- Click the "Copy" button to copy the registration information to the clipboard,
then open your email program and paste the info into an email addressed to
"shareware@kagi.com".
- Click the "Print" button to print a copy of the registration info, to fax or mail to Kagi.
